Tax Credits/ Rebates
NEW MEXICO ENERGY EFFICIENT TAX CREDITS AND REBATES
- Federal Solar Tax Credit: There is NO CAP on this credit. Receive 1/3 of the cost of the system for either solar thermal or PV.
- Sustainable Building Tax Credit: To receive this credit the home must have a HERS rating of 60(or below) AND a Green Build New Mexico Gold rating. This credit gives $4.50 a sq.ft. for the first 2000 sq.ft. with $2.00 a sq. ft. given for the next 1000 sq. ft. The credit is transferable and does not have to be used the year it is generated.
- Solar Gross Receipts Tax Exemption: There is no gross receipts tax on any components which are a direct part of the solar system. The system must be installed by a licensed installer.
- EnergyStar Homes: Homebuilders can receive a $500.00 rebate from PNM for building an Energystar home. An Energystar home must have a HERS rating of 85.
- Refrigerator/ Freezer Rebate: PNM offers $30.00 per old fridge or freezer in working order. The best part is they send someone to pick it up!
